A percentage gateway takes a share of every payment, so its cost rises with your turnover. A flat plan does not move. The point where one overtakes the other depends on your volume, not on anyone’s marketing.

Several of these rates are tiered. The figures use each provider’s ENTRY rate — what a merchant below their first volume threshold pays — because that is the number a smaller merchant is actually charged, and the one you can check against their page.

A percentage grows with every order you take; a flat subscription does not. At 1%, a merchant doing twice the volume pays twice as much for the same service, so the gap widens exactly as the business grows.

Because both take 0% of payment value, and putting them here would imply Unheld undercuts them on fee, which it does not. What separates them is self-hosting and payment operations, and that argument belongs on their comparison pages rather than in an arithmetic table.
