WooCommerce crypto payments: how to accept them with Unheld

Unheld has no native WooCommerce plugin. It does not need one to take a payment: you add a payment link to your WooCommerce site, next to your checkout if you have one, and the customer pays on a hosted page.

Unheld does not replace any checkout you already have on WooCommerce. A crypto payment through Unheld is a separate payment on a hosted page, so WooCommerce does not see it and does not mark an order as paid by itself. What follows is the path that works today, and what you have to do yourself because there is no plugin to do it for you.

WooCommerce runs on WordPress, which lets you add your own code. That matters for one step below: a developer can receive Unheld's signed webhook on your site and mark the order paid. No plugin does it for you today.

The steps, in order

  1. Create a checkout button in your Unheld dashboard

Choose the amount, the coin and the network, and where the customer should land after paying. The button is a hosted link, not a script, so nothing on your WooCommerce site holds a secret key.

  2. Copy the payment link

The dashboard shows the button's payment link. Each press from a new network address creates an invoice from the button's saved settings; pressing it again from the same address while that invoice is open returns the same invoice.

  3. Put the link on your WooCommerce site

Add it anywhere WooCommerce lets you place a link or a block of HTML: a button on a page, a product page, a menu link. It sits beside any checkout you already have; it never replaces it.

  4. Decide how you will know an order is paid

Unheld sends a signed webhook when an invoice is paid, and the payment shows in your dashboard and, if you have linked it, in Telegram. WooCommerce receives none of that, so you either mark the order paid by hand or have your own code receive the webhook. To tell which order a payment belongs to, first declare a reference field on the button, then pass your value in the link. It comes back in the webhook, but it is supplied by the visitor's browser, and a repeat press from the same address returns the invoice that already exists, with its first reference. Treat it as a reference to check, not as proof of who paid or of which order.

  5. Test on a testnet first

Unheld lists test networks whose coins cost nothing. Create a button on one, pay it from a test wallet, and watch the payment arrive before a real customer does.

Common questions

Is there an Unheld plugin for WooCommerce?

No. There is no native WooCommerce plugin, and this guide does not pretend otherwise. What exists today is a payment link and a hosted payment page that you place on your WooCommerce site, plus signed webhooks if you can receive them.

Does this replace the checkout I already use on WooCommerce?

No. Any checkout you already have keeps working. The crypto payment is an extra option for customers who want it, made on a hosted Unheld page and paid straight to a wallet you control.

Will WooCommerce mark the order as paid automatically?

Not by itself, because WooCommerce does not see the payment. You mark the order paid after the payment shows in your dashboard, or a developer adds code to your site that receives Unheld's signed webhook and does it for you.

Does Unheld hold the money while the customer pays?

No. The payment goes straight to an address from a wallet only you control. Unheld watches the chain and tells you it arrived; it never holds the funds.

Which coins can my WooCommerce customers pay with?

The coin and network you choose when you create the button, from those Unheld lists on its supported currencies page. For more than one coin, create a button for each. Pick a stablecoin if you want the price to stay put between invoice and payment.
